Gold leaf, mercurial, fragile and fine, a material on which I have worked with the same passion for over 30 years.
After a degree in Fine Art, option painting, aged 23 I became by chance apprenticed to a master Gilder/Restorer in London. From the onset I loved the contact with this noble material and with its tools and techniques unchanged since the 15 th century. Since then I haven’t stopped learning and researching the art of gilding through the history of the pieces I restore without neglecting my need to continue inventing and creating anew.
Over recent years I have been experimenting with gold leaf on supports such as; stone, metal, fabric, paper or cardboard, on natural found objects from landscape or woods, which I exhibit on land art trails or as decorative panels destined for interior spaces.
My desire is to showcase the ancient art of gilding in a contemporary way by making people aware of its beauty in different contexts.
