At the beginning of my artistic journey, I saw restoration and creation as 2 distinct fields of work, I drew, I painted, and I also practiced the traditional art of gilding, then about 15 years ago I started thinking about combining the 2. One of my first gilded art works was a tangle of stems which I named,” Medusa’s head”, since then I have continued to create with largely found objects from the woods and fields of the Dordogne. Amongst other things I like to create mini microcosms in glass bell jars and make installations for site-specific spaces.
I am inspired by Japanese Suiseki, landscape stones, and by the work of Yves Klein and Jean Dubuffet. Bones, rocks, pebbles and twisted natural forms continue to resonate and infuse my imagination.
